This is an illustration about clinical depression. Depression is not about being emo, wearing black mascara and listening to Bright Eyes all the time. It is a serious disorder that can't be cured with a piece of chocolate. Wanna know more? Ask aunt Wiki .

Now, to quote Morticia Addams: You have gone too far. You have married Fester, you have destroyed his spirit, you have taken him from us. All that I could forgive. But Debbie... pastels?

Using pastel colours was a real challenge for my aesthetic senses but I think it fits the object. This piece was rather hard for me to work on. I started it a few months ago and then neglected it. Only yesterday I decided to finish it. The reason it was so hard is (mostly) because it's my first 100% digital piece done with a tablet. I used a rough pencil drawing for orientation though. If you think you see a pony in that picture... great, you found it.
I was thinking about doing a series about mental diseases but I'm not sure yet. ~melocopter already did an awesome job on this.

The title again is stolen from a song (which IMHO is one of the most misunderstood songs ever).

I don't even know much about the little girl in the piece, but I still feel like I want to cry for her. Dx

I'm either hopelessly pathetic, or you are a great artist! I vouch for the latter.

"Confidence is ignorance." said Foaly. "If you're confident, then there is probably something you don't know." Holly stayed quiet, for she had a sneaking suspicion Foaly was right.

I prefer the name melancholia... bipolar? I wish I was bipolar! Wiki says "monopolar".. I guess that's me! I remember when as a young kid being indoctrinated into the papist cults- first communion somesuch (eating Jebus' flesh etc) we had draw a thing with our name on it. I made mine and it had a huge sad face on the W part of my name, and when it was put on the huge banner for all to see, my poor mother was shocked that mine with the sad face stood out over all the others with rainbows, smiling shiny happy faces, sunshine etc (she desperately tried to turn it into a happy face with her lipstick, to no avail). WTF! Life is not like that, it's not always happy happy joy joy (at least it never was for me!). Even for Jebus, it was none too good! I put a sad face, because we were celebrating this poor dead guy and preparing to eat him! So, often life is a moribund grey of day to day blech, with a few miniscule shining jewels of moments.. what's wrong with that? I would rather have a lifetime of real emotion, with only a few dozen moments of true happiness, than a comatose life of prozac, booze, cocaine or other "artificial joy". It's this damn instant just-add-water-and-stir take out food society that makes anyone that doesn't look like those shiny people on TV commercials feel inadequate and miserable :(
