Edited the aspect ratio of the piece to make it printable (what a shameless self advertising… I’m gonna slap myself in the face… damn that hurts… I hope you’re happy now).
Also I thought why shouldn’t poor Gerhart have the right to get his own background story? After all he’s still a human being… not the most attractive one… but still human and he has feelings like everybody else so stop poking him in the eye dammit.
When little Gerhart was 11 he wanted to become a famous astronaut and change his name into Buzz… partially because his parents told him that he would never be the first one in anything.
One day he met a beautiful girl named Elke who in his eyes was the most appealing person in the entire universe or at least in his village… besides the butcher’s daughter maybe. There was no such thing like a girl with flowers in her hair that really knew how to gut a pig.
Well, Gerhart and Elke fell deeply in love at the age of 13… but as we all know 13 is not a lucky number and so it happened that beautiful and pure Elke fell ill. A bad fever called Syphilis was shaking her body and the only thing that could cure her was a small flower growing deep in the woods.
But Gerhart knew what he had to do and that now was the time to finally show his parents and the rest of the world that he was a true hero. The next night he went into the woods to find this mysterious flower… unfortunately he had forgotten his flashlight and stumbled over an anthill full of red fire ants. Even more unfortunately was that above-mentioned insects were not only ordinary ants but highly intelligent and aggressive killer ants designed for only one purpose… to exterminate the common vole. After a furious 8 hours lasting fight the animals realised that Gerhart was not a vole. They left him laying in the mud with his left eye bleeding like his mother when he accidentally surprised her in the bathroom one day. And what do you think did he find down there? The inexplicable flower.
He ran as fast as he could with his short legs to hand the plant to his love.
Bad for him she was already dead.
DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
